Swedish invasion

While on peter and Linda's holiday / vacation / honey moon / born free trip /  ect.... They squeezed the Deathtraps in for a few days. Glad they made it!!
Of course we greet them with food!

Then came the choppers.
We kept them busy while they were in town.

Shade tree while visiting Columbia state park.

We ran into a couple of locals while walking the streets.

We had enough time to squeeze in a wedding photo. Hah

Then back to the choppers.

Hot and dry

That night we got to go see some local live music.

Then off the shoot!!

Glad you two made it and looking forward to seeing you again soon!!

Long Overdue

“We got the 44 out. None of those names appear on the wall in Washington. There's nothing more important than that.”

-Retired Lt. Col. Charles Kettles

President Obama awarded Lt. Col. Charles Kettles the Medal of Honor the other day. I won't go into details here, (read his story here), but it is nice to finally hear about a real hero on the news once in awhile, even if it did take almost 50 years. The original battle happened on May 15, 1967.

Visitors!

Peter and Linda stopped by Sonora for a couple of days during their vacation to California from Sweden.
Sun was out, but the heat was gone, and by heat I'm talking about low 90's. Gus and Andrew were making their way back north up the Goldenchain, so it only seemed appropriate that we join them for part of the ride back.

They seem pretty happy I guess...

Shade was crowded

Pit stop in Columbia for lunch and some beers.

Crossing Melones. Still empty.

Homeward Bound

Sometimes it all works out in favor of the chopper. On my way home from the beach, another vacation while on vacation, I was able to meet up with Gus, Andrew, Lee, Buddy and Kate, as they slowly made their way to Sacramento.
We took a couple detours, for me at least, that kept me at around two hours from Sonora for the next 3 hours of riding. Great way to finish off the holiday weekend.

Golden hills

Bridge folk

Semi lost...

And then found

Finally headed east, and solo for the last leg of the trip.

Hollister Part II

As we rode down the west side of the pass, temperatures rose just a bit before settling at a comfortable 85F. A mere 20F  cooler than Sonora had been for the past week. The temperature drop only solidified that our decision to leave Sonora, and work a day early, was the right thing to do.

Made me think of Holland for some reason...

Quick fix: a bolt had come out of Aaron's shifter, and we looped a key ring through it to get us the last 10 miles into town.
